Chandigarh:

In a new development in the IPS officer Puran Kumar case, the Chandigarh Police has issued a formal notice to his wife, requesting her to hand over the officer’s laptop for investigation purposes.

Sources said the laptop is believed to contain important personal and official data that could help investigators understand the circumstances surrounding the IPS officer’s death.

The notice has been sent under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) provisions, asking the officer’s wife to cooperate with the ongoing probe.

According to reports, the investigating team aims to retrieve digital records, emails, and files from the laptop to establish the sequence of events leading up to Puran Kumar’s death.

The case has drawn national attention, with several political leaders — including Union Minister Ramdas Athawale — demanding a high-level, transparent investigation and accountability from senior police officials.

Meanwhile, family members have alleged harassment and workplace pressure, calling for justice and strict action against those responsible.
