Under the “Rajmarg Yatra” app campaign, travellers can upload photos of unhygienic toilets on highways and earn rewards after verification; the initiative will continue till October 31, 2025.
New Delhi:
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a new initiative to promote cleanliness and hygiene on highways. As part of the campaign, travellers can now report dirty or poorly maintained toilets along national highways and receive a ₹1,000 FASTag recharge as a reward.
The initiative aims to encourage citizen participation in maintaining hygiene standards at highway amenities and is valid until October 31, 2025. It applies only to toilets managed by the NHAI.
How to Report and Claim the Reward
To participate, travellers must use the latest version of the “Rajmarg Yatra” mobile app to upload a geo-tagged and time-stamped photo of the unclean toilet.
Users are required to provide:
• Full name
• Location details
• Vehicle registration number (VRN)
• Mobile number
Once the report is verified and confirmed by NHAI authorities, the complainant’s registered FASTag account will be credited with ₹1,000 as a reward.
Officials say the initiative not only aims to improve public convenience infrastructure but also seeks to make commuters active stakeholders in the “Clean Highways, Green India” mission.
The NHAI has also announced plans to regularly audit highway toilets and improve waste management systems to ensure a cleaner travel experience for millions of road users.
